DOST (Dhanwantari’s Organization for Socio-health Transformation) is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization.
It represents a collaborative effort between medical experts and non-medical social workers, all dedicated to contributing positively to Society DOST is a registered NGO under the Bombay Trust Act 1955 and Maharashtra State Societies Registration Act, with registration number F-5097, dated 27/07/2001 and MH/81/2001 dated 27/07/2001 respectively. The foundation of DOST was laid in 2001 under the banner of APRS (AIDS Prevention and Rehabilitation Society), where Dr. Govind Jawade along with some doctors and social activists in Parbhani focused on HIV/AIDS initiatives and women empowerment. As most of the members were spiritually inclined and motivated by a sense of service, collectively decided to broaden the scope of work in 2006. Dr. Kailash Jawade who was getting his training in transplantation realized the need of organ donation awareness and work in various other areas. With his vision, on 8th March 2008, APRS was renamed as Dhanwantari’s Organization for Socio-health Transformation (DOST).
...Over the years, DOST continued to work in the field of in HIV/AIDS awareness and treatment. Organization also expanded focus to include socio-economic upliftment, women empowerment, environmental protection and the pursuit of world peace. This strategic expansion has allowed DOST to serve a larger segment of the community effectively. Currently, activities of DOST are concentrated in Parbhani and Mumbai. In Parbhani, DOST is working for initiatives related to women empowerment and supporting for the elderly through old age home. DOST Mumbai branch is actively engaged in various projects such as organ donation awareness, student empowerment, diagnostic services, and medical and surgical camps. DOST Mumbai has a significant emphasis on guiding and empowering young students through DOST Mumbai Students’ Forum. Through forum DOST strive to inspire them to take an active role in social work. Additionally, organization is keen to establish several specialized forums, including a Women’s Forum, a Senior Citizen's Forum, an Allied Health Professional's Forum, and a Doctors’ Forum.
Through the dedication and commitment of young volunteers, DOST has a aim to extend reach to the most vulnerable populations, ensuring that the services positively impact as many lives as possible.
